I was turned on to the idea of negative theology in a philosophy of religion class a few years ago. I’m fascinated by the idea of defining something by what it is not, specifically because the things that are most necessary to try to define are also the most nebulous. It feels incredibly counter-intuitive to do so, but maybe that’s exactly why it’s so effective.
I want my notebooks to begin to look like this.
